What is a DTS?
The Northern Lights Discipleship Training School is a place to see God radically move in your life. At the northernmost base in the world, surrounded by stunning mountains and fjords, you will get to know yourself, God and your passion and purpose in His kingdom.
This DTS is for those who long to step out in faith and follow Jesus, to push the limits of their life and know God in new, incredible ways. At Borgen our heart is for the North, Youth and the Outdoors, and our DTS will include youth ministry, outdoor trips and adventures, and sharing the love of Jesus to the Arctic. The DTS is a full-time 7 month program that consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase.
The Lecture Phase
In the first part of DTS, we will deep dive into knowing God. Inspiring teachers from around the world will teach weekly on key topics of the Christian faith, including Hearing God’s Voice, the Bible, Missions, Identity and so much more. We will also have other weekly program elements including intercession times, worship gatherings, practicing the spiritual disciplines together, on-on-ones, and small groups, as well as a good amount of time just to be in community together. Every element of lecture phase is designed with the intention of drawing you closer to God.
Outdoor Focus
The Northern Lights DTS is an outdoor school with a passion for growing together through exploring and enjoying the great outdoors! We truly believe that God can speak in deep and different ways through time spent in his creation, and that there is immense value in having time away to process the lecture phase teachings. Also, what better way to grow closer together than tackling outdoor challenges as a team!
Throughout lecture phase we will spend time hiking and backpacking. We will go on several multi-day hiking trips as well as day hikes to nearby glaciers, alpine lakes, and stunning mountain tops. Other potential outdoor activities include snowshoeing, fishing, canoeing, and foraging, and more!
Our area of Northern Norway is stunning, and we are truly blessed to get to know God through his breathtaking creation and grow together in community.
Worship Music Track
The vision of the Northern Lights Worship Music Track (WMT) is to release giftings in worship and to grow in the ability to lead worship in different circumstances and cultures in service of God’s kingdom. This is a bonus track available to students who would like to add an emphasis on worship music alongside our regular DTS program.
Every other week the WMT will meet to get input on what worship is, work on projects, and of course, lots of practice together! Students will be involved in leading worship at our regular base gatherings, base worship nights, as well as local ministry in our area of the North. Students participating in this track will have slightly different responsibilities than other students to accommodate for the additional program, but they will still take part in the outdoor program as well.

The Outreach Phase
The Outreach Phase is where you get to put into practice what you’ve learned, the time to share the love God has given you to the nations! This is an intense 2 month cross cultural experience that will challenge you and bless you like no other. Outreach teams share the love and gospel of Christ through evangelism, discipleship, sports, drama, youth ministry, practical service, prayer and more. We believe that we are blessed to be a blessing. Previous Outreach locations have included Bulgaria, Ecuador, Italy, Greece, Russia, Mali, and more — we are privileged to be sent out from the North to the Nations!

Worship Music Track Additional Cost: 2,500 NOK
